About Chiang Mai

In Thailand, Chiang Mai is referred to as “the Jewel of the North.” The city itself is bursting with culture and you can spend days exploring Chiang Mai’s many temples, waterfalls, artisan shops, and markets. Outside of the city, northern Thailand is home to the mountainous jungle and infamous Golden Triangle where Thailand’s many hill tribes live. Traveling by foot, bicycle, and motorbike, I’ve explored the entire region from the Mekong River on the Lao border to the Salween on Myanmar’s.

After living and photographing in Brazil, Mongolia, Nepal, and the US, I came to Chiang Mai 4 years ago to present an exhibition of some of my photography work at a local gallery and quickly realized that this was the city where I wanted to be based.

My photography work has taken me all over Asia, but I’ve been lucky to be able to concentrate much of my time and assignments working as a Chiang Mai photographer. While here, I’ve covered everything from beetle fighting and monk initiations, to coffee production and rocket festivals, and I look forward to continue learning about this fascinating region.

If you’re interested in coverage from the region, please don’t hesitate to contact me.
